The “news” that the 8 glasses per day of water is now being scrutinized by the modern medical system is quite a surprise to me.
I had thought it would be simply another unconscious fad that would shortly end.
But, here it is (20?) years later!
The ‘drink water’ syndrome has progressed to include “drink plenty of water”, like you can’t get too much and the fact that many carry water with them and drink—because authority other that themselves suggested.
‘Drink when thirsty’ has been replaced by intellectual rhetoric, and Primary Intelligence is replaced with scientific oratory.
The human body is not only liken to but included as being a living organism and as susceptible to excess as say a house plant which when over watered swells the root system thus weakening the plant and eventually takes its life…unlike flushing a plumbing fixture.. the kidneys of a human body are naturally quite solid---like the roots of a plant---and when watered in excess do in fact suffer the same consequence, being weakness—fatigue.
It is not a far stretch to see the collation between weakened kidneys and the ever increasing need for dialysis machinery.
Drink when thirsty is as simple to understand as ‘Eat when hungry or Rest when tired.
Although one must be in-tuned with ones body-mind lest dullness occur--thirst will come when overindulgence in say salty or sweet or spicy or drugs of medication which in turn will create the same condition while diluting ones blood.
Moderation has to be consciously applied as it is not automatic.
While living in a country with great abundance of everything is it any wonder we have our health problems both mentally and physically?
